Booda French Interview

MRgruff has been following Booda French for some time, and now brings you the complete 'Ventolin EP'. Booda demonstrates on the EP that he represents so much that is good about the UK hip hop scene right now. Last Japan - East EP

We recently got sent the promo pieces for 'East', and can happily say we were blown away by them. Once again London based Last Japan, aka. Martin Giuliani and Trim have got together to throw down some mayhem in the track entitled 'East'. The detroit esq. scat-about beat and euphoric synths pull together nicely, smoothly complimenting each of their distinctive sounds. The other tracks round up the release well, not the least 'Y.O.U' and 'Hidden'. Last Japan even goes about exploring the 140 bpm jungle scene, once again showcasing his diverse production style. The release is due out soon on Bullet Train Records. Oh, and in case you didn't yet know, Trim has recently just signed a contract with our favourite ex-pirate radio station, now turned underground powerhouse, Rinse FM. That is all.

Something truly special from Alix P.

Sometimes the producers we love and respect come up with something truly unique and truly special; in this case it is the one and only Alix Perez who has stepped up to the mark. 'It's Not Me It's You' (originally by Sub Motion Orchestra) is a  soulful roller with stunning vocals,  we've not heard anything this mind blowing since Oblique by Sabre, Stray & Halogenix. Dub Phizix ft. Fox - CRIT063

Man of the moment Dub Phizix is back yet again with another massive release, this time on Kasra's Critical Music imprint and once again he does not disappoint.

First up we have stand out track "Never Been" featuring fellow Manchester don Fox who delivers a deep african styled vocal on Dub Phizix thumping congo styled bassline. A track that many will get familiar with over the coming months as many DJ's scramble to play this.

B-Side to this record is most definitely worthy of actually being an A-Side, "Codec"is a half time track with a roaring underlying baseline that is sure to send any dance floor crazy.

Digital Exclusive with this release is "Handmade", a very Critical styled track, Dub Phizix takes it minimal producing a track that could easily be likened to Rockwell's style.



Out this coming Monday (Available to order now on surus) this is a release that any Drum and Bass fan would be stupid to miss. MRgruff is sure that the vinyl won't be hanging around for long so make sure you beat the scramble and order yours now.

Some solid material headed our way from UK based Fracture on Warm Comunications, an American drum&bass label. This EP's got soul (swag to our American crew), make sure you don't miss it, pre-order here. His remix of 'Lately' by Ella Jones really stood out for us, appropriate summer vibes to help see us through this tropical torrent of rain we seem to be stuck with at the moment (wettest April since records began!). Some truly warm communications indeed to brighten your day. Large.

Boddika & Joy Orbison - "Prone / Dun Dun"

Following the much talked about first release from Boddika & Joy Orbison, "Froth/Mercy" on their newly formed 12" series Sunklown Records back in February the pair are set to impress again.

For Sunklown 002 we see the pair come up with "Prone/Dun Dun", Both tunes have been highly sought after by the YouTube heads. "Prone" recently featured in Joy Orbison's promo mix for the launch of his new Label Hinge Finger. Out this week on Vinyl only we are sure these will be disappearing very quickly, so be sure to go grab one.
